Are You Eligible? The SSC Stenographer 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Meeting the eligibility criteria is the first step towards applying for the SSC Stenographer exam. The key eligibility requirements are:

  • Nationality: A candidate must be either:
    • A citizen of India, or
    • A subject of Nepal, or
    • A subject of Bhutan, or
    • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
    • A person of Indian origin has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, and Sri Lanka. They have also come from East African countries such as Kenya and Uganda. Some have originated from the United Republic of Tanzania, formerly known as Tanganyika and Zanzibar. People from Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam have also intended to permanently settle in India.
  • Age Limit: Age relaxation applies to reserved categories. This is based on government rules.
  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed the 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University.

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to ssc.nic.in.
  2. Register: If you are a new user, click on “New User? Register Now” and fill in the required details. You’ll need a valid email ID and mobile number.
  3. Login: Use your registration ID and password to log in to the SSC portal.

SSC Stenographer 2025 examination will be conducted at 2 different levels. The first level is the Grade C and D exam which comprises MCQs and is conducted online. After this exam has been conducted, an exam to test your skill sets in various domains is conducted by SSC.

SSC Stenographer 2025 Salary

The provisionally appointed candidates for Stenographer Grade ‘C’ (Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted) posts will receive an attractive monthly salary. Candidates for Stenographer Grade ‘D’ (Group ‘C’) posts will also be paid well. Along with the basic salary, various allowances will also be provided. These include Dearness Allowance and House Rent Allowance. Deductions will be made, such as Provident Fund and Income Tax.
